A long time thrifter, I'd never been to the World's Longest Yard Sale, which passes through Cincinnati. I've never really been in to garage and yard sales. They are sort of hit or miss. Actually, they are more miss than hit, in my experience.
However, since it was such a nice day, Blake and I decided to head out to check it out. Fueled by large lattes, we had a good time. My attention span didn't last that long, however, and after about two hours we left. (Unlike some other people that are turning it into a huge multiple day event.)
I did find some cool stuff for my Etsy shop...
I went shopping today for some new shop items and found some cool stuff. Here's a sneak peek...
At one shop, I got a cart full of stuff for a fraction of the cost because one of the sales staff was flirting with me. He kept trying to get me to come back later in the day because there was "going to be another shipment" of merchandise. He also complimented me on my green shoes.
I was thankful but reserved at the same time. It was a tad awkward, although I did really appreciate the heavy discount. ;-)
Another update to the shop:
The Hawaiian Souvenir glass and the avocado 1970s pitcher have already been added. The storage container with the red lid and the atomic dishes will be added soon.
Also, check out this cool Bermuda bag. Use it for your shopping or for the beach!
Check the shop often for updates!
My Etsy shop is finally open! Take a look at some of the great vintage-y goodness in the shop. I will be updating almost daily, so check back often.
If you have been by Drew-O-Rama in the past, you know that I love shopping at thrift stores. I have since I was in high school. At one point, most of my clothing was thrifted.
Nowadays, it's rare if I wear anything thrifted. Most of my junk store shopping centers around knick-knacks and furniture. I see so many cool stuff that I want to buy, but I know I shouldn't because I already have an apartment full of stuff.

However, the past few months I have been slowly buying all those items that I have been skipping. Why? In the next few weeks I will be opening an Etsy shop to share all my thrifted treasures with you. Check back for more info in the coming weeks...
It seems as though my great thrifting karma is continuing...

I found another set of mugs. They are the same size and shape as the ones I found previously. I guess I have a small collection started.
I also found this great round table cloth with a folksy theme...

Now that I have my weekends back since the group I teach has ended their winter season, I expect to be doing a lot more thrifting. Hopefully, the karma will continue...
My friend Jay needed my new car to deliver some furniture he was donating to charity. Once we were finished unloading, we shopped a bit and I found some really great stuff...

I have no idea what these mod little wooden dolls are, but they are really cool. Their heads come off like little eggs. On the bottom of the male doll there is a sticker that reads, "Beriozka." The other one has a sticker on the bottom that's in Russian. It reads, "MOCKBA" which of course is Moscow. Whatever they are, they're just really frickin' cool.
I also found some amazing mugs...

These are the sorts of things that you hope one day you'll find. And when you do, you thank the thrifting gods and pray your thrifting karma will stay with you.
Went shopping for my Halloween costume and came across some more art for my bad art wall...

The little kid portrait scares me. And if you're thinking that's a ship painted on black velvet, you're thinking correctly.
Oh, and my thrift store hobo Halloween costume turned out rather well...

Went thrifting today with Roger, and came across these cool items...

A 70s photo of a forest scene. I am going to hang it in my bedroom, which is quickly becoming the room where the bad, kitschy art lives.

We also went to a small collectibles shop, where I found all the fabric above. There was so much to take in, I am going to have to go back. I think most of the above fabric will be used for bags, which I think I am going to start to sell online probably through Etsy, but not sure.
Go to my Flickr site to see each piece of fabric.
