Doty drew a Christmas card to send to friends and colleagues starting in 1946 and every year since.

NEW CONDO

It looks like Blake will soon be moving into his new condo. His neighbors are almost ready:

He's been talking about this since I've met him and has been very eager to move in. I can see why... what a great, urban space!

CHARLIE HARPER AT OLD NAVY

I recently came across a series of Charlie Harper products at Old Navy.

I know what you are thinking, "CHARLIE HARPER AT OLD NAVY?!" Well, say what you want about their cheap products, at least they have a bit of taste.

COLLAGE LOVE

I have a love affair with collage. I love looking at it and I love creating it. I think because I have always been intrigued with found paper ephemera, especially anything that's vintage.

Randel Plowman is a great local (to me) artist working in the collage medium. I've mentioned his blog, A Collage a Day, before on my other blog. It's worth mentioning on this blog with the Holidays coming up. With the economy as it is, this would be a great gift option for anyone who wants inexpensive and original art for their walls.

Check it out... A Collage a Day. Also, swing by his Etsy shop, R. Plowman Studios.

COLLAGE

I was checking who has "hearted" my shop on Etsy, and came across artist and Etsy seller, Dollfacedesign.

I love these prints/collage. Aren't they the coolest?!

FLICKR FAVES

A few weeks ago, Flickr started offering stats on user's photos. You can see how many visits you have each day, your most popular photos and how many views they have, which photos have the most comments, etc. Here are mine:

MOST VIEWS
- The photo with the most views is the one on the left. It's my bedroom dresser. I think it's had so many hits because Lisa linked to it one day on her blog, years ago.

MOST COMMENTS
- This award goes to the Wardrobe Remix photo of me wearing all black with my lime green loafers and giant red scarf.

MOST FAVORITE-ED
- The "dish cloth" I knitted and scribbled on with bleach pen is the photo with the most favorites. This also gets a lot of traffic on Ravelry.

See more of my photos, including my hilarious Halloween costume, at my Flickr page.

TYPE "FACES"

I am a graphic designer by day, so you can imagine how much I geeked out when I came across these typographic illustrations...

Aren't they just too cool?! Found via Creattica.

34

I turn 34 today. Not sure how I feel about it...

34

I always told myself that 34 was going to be a weird birthday since that's how old my mom was when I was born. Considering I didn't remember it was my birthday until I was almost at work, I guess it's not THAT big of a deal.

BIKE RIDE

Yesterday, Blake and I spent a nice day riding 20 miles on the local old-railline-turned-bike-trail. We rode through a state park, over old railroad bridges, past bubbling rivers...

Autumn is definitely in the air and I'm excited.

WIND!

There were massive amounts of wind that came through Cincinnati yesterday, thanks to Hurricane Ike. Close to 1 million homes are without power, including me. All schools and universities in the area are closed except the one I work at... thanks.

Anyway, after the power went out, I was sitting next to the window knitting. I noticed people walking by carrying grocery bags from the independent grocery down the block from me. Once it got too dark to see my knitting, I decided I'd go see if the grocery was open. Something told me to go check on my car which is always parked behind my apartment building. As I can around the corner, this is what I saw...

My hear sank as I saw the red car, then the white car...

Fortunately, the tree stopped about 2 feet from my car. Wow, somebody was watching out for me!

CLOUDS

I was walking to Blake's the other evening, looked up and saw this...

POLAROID + EAMES

I love this Polaroid promotional film by Charles and Ray Eames from 1972. It's typical Eames, with amazing camera angles, easy pacing, great styling, influences from nature...

This film is great if you've always wondered how Polaroid cameras and film work. Too bad there will soon be no more Polaroid film!

ABBA

My sister is almost 10 years older than me. So when I was about 6 years old, ABBA, and other late 70s and early 80s music, was always emanating from her bedroom. I think that's why I respond to and know more about music from that era than other people my age.

Anyway, I always loved looking at those ABBA albums. There are two that I remember clearly...

The "Super Trouper" album cover sort of scared me. All those weird circus-y/sideshow people are weird... but in a cool way. My favorite is "ABBA The Album". All those colors and groovy illustration still looks fresh today. I wouldn't be surprised if current illustrators are using this as inspiration. Does anyone know of any examples?
