I HEART: SWISS FRANCS

I've written about this before, but I feel it bears repeating: I really heart Swiss bank notes.

Don't you just love the bright, saturated colors and complex, layered imagery? I also like that the notes celebrate Swiss citizens that contributed to architecture, science and music (as opposed to just politicians.)

Each note is a different size and includes raised symbols so the seeing impaired can easily tell them apart (circle, square and triangle on the left sides above.) Oh, and the designer's name is printed on the notes as well. I can't imagine that ever happening with US money, let alone allowing only one person to design them.

These make US currency look like green barf.

I HEART: KIM HARGREAVES

Once upon a time, this was a knitting blog. Oh, I still knit... just not enough to blog about it. I am in the process of reevaluating what this blog wants to be. In the meantime, I am just going to post whatever I want to share with you, and today I want to tell you how much I love me some Kim Hargreaves.

Simplicity, to me, is best. However, it's hard to do. That's why I think Ms. Hargreaves is a genious. Go to her site and check out all her pattern collections. Straight-up eye candy!

I HEART: JAY MCCARROLL FABRIC

The other day, I sent my friend Jay a birthday message and after we caught up a bit, he let me know about his new line of fabric.

There are two lines, Woodland Wonderland and Garden Friends. I love the deer with huge lashes, rabbits with crazed eyes and wood log cross sections with ants, all in Jay's usual bright color palette.

I HEART: ANDREW NEYER

I recently came across Cincinnati artist Andrew Neyer via Etsy and asked him to be part of the etsycincinnati series on my other blog.

Andrew prints, package, and design everything himself. Everything is handprinted. Andrew says, "I try to make my work affordable, accessible, and enjoyable." Nothing in his Etsy shop is more than $30.

Andrew sells mostly prints of original art work in his Etsy shop. He also sells most of his zines in several comic/record stores. "Krafthaus (Cincinnati) is a gallery that stocks my prints and other items. In addition to book fairs in Baltimore & NYC I travel to SPX (Bethesda, MD) & MoCCA (NYC) each year with my friends from Closed Caption Comics."
