Stop by my new blog, named "65 Days", to read about the backpacking trip to Europe I did during the summer of 2000. I am posting, to the day, my journal entries and photos from the trip. As of today, I am only two days in, so there's lots more to come through the middle of August.

I made some cupcakes on Saturday and they ended up to be really tasty. I used the recipe for Sour Cream Raspberry Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting from Ming Makes Cupcakes. It was fairly simple recipe for my first time baking cupcakes. Check out the site for more delicious versions.

I've always loved the idea of art journaling. I'd start a journal with the intention of keeping up with it daily, or at least weekly, only to slowly forget about it. I did keep a diary when I was roughly 17-22 and some pages had elements of collage. But it was sporadic at best.

Above is my Bench Monday photo for the 7th of June. I got a bit carried away with this one... lots of "stuff." It took me about a 1/2 hour to set up and shoot which is about 15 minutes longer than I usually take. I like the overkill with all the stuff, and I think I found the right balance. However, I still think that less is more.

What does summer mean to you? Spending time outside, eating fresh fruit and ice cream, corn on the cob, spending time with friends, open windows, thunderstorms...

I'm having a ton of fun with my new Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. The app makes your iPhone photos look and feel like it they were taken with plastic toy cameras from the past. It has a randomness that is a lot of fun.
It comes with three "lenses", three kinds of "film" and two options for "flash bulbs." You can choose which combination you like or shake your iPhone for a random choice.
I've only bought maybe three apps in the two years since I've had my iPhone, but this one I had to get. I'm already looking at buying one or two of the add-ons.

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority just released a new map of the subway system. It replaces the map from 1998. I still prefer the Massimo Vignelli designed map from 1972.
