I am really excited about the Facebook page and look forward to keeping it updated and seeing how social media can help market my shop.

5PM, 4/24/09

5pm, April 24th.

That's when I will be officially jobless. It's so exciting I can barely stand it! It's also scary.

Quitting my 9-5 graphic designer job was part of my future plans- it just happened about 6 months before I was expecting. I just couldn't do it anymore for various reasons. While I am nervous (mostly about finances), I know I can and will be successful.

When one goes through a major change, goals and plans are written and rewritten. A few of my goals are to reevaluate my two blogs, spruce them up and to post more frequently.

When this blog started, it was purely a knitting blog. Then it morphed into a knitting/craft/design blog. Now, I am not sure what it is or what it should become? I think the best blogs are the ones that are focused.

Here are the things that I'd like drew-o-rama.com to be:

- previews of my products from Kitsch Café, new ideas for the shop, promotions and give-aways;

- thoughts about being a self-employed crafter/artist;

- sharing general design/eye-candy that interests and inspires me;

- my personal crafts and endeavors, including knitting and crochet.

Is that too many topics? Should I narrow the focus a bit more? As my mother used to always tell me, "That's a personal decision." I suppose this blog can be anything I want.

What I really want to know is... Should I change the title of the blog to "Kitsch Café"? It seems like the more successful blogs out there are consistently named between their shops, Twitter screen name, etc.

MY NEXT JOB

“I don’t want another job. I don’t want another boss. I am the best-qualified person to analyze and direct my energies. I am happiest when I have the freedom to split up my day into two or three chunks. I’m happiest when I can work all morning and take the afternoon off, then come back to my project at midnight and work until sunrise. I am positively blissful when making my own decisions and executing them without need for approval, delegation or committee discussion. As of today, my job search is over. I’m my next job.“

Yesterday, I quit my job. :-)
