I love baking. Not so much during the hot summer, but the rest of the year I usually bake something during the weekend and bring it to work on Monday.
I usually use a recipe from Everyday Food. But, when I was little, I was always using this Betty Crocker cookbook from 1957.

I'm not sure why we had it or where it came from, but I loved it. Maybe I was so attracted to it because it was so colorful and retro. I loved looking at it as much as I loved eating the baked goods I made (attempted to make, that is).

It uses only a few colors of ink and mostly illustration in a total 50s sort of way.

I also loved that it includes crafts and party favors. I don't remember if I ever made any of them, but it was eye candy for me, nonetheless.
Maybe I should order a compete set of The Family Creative Workshop and Kids America that I also loved...
