COLORING BOOKS

My friend Jay received a wonderful gift for Christmas from his sister. It's a book written by Taro Gomi called "Scribbles, A Really Giant Drawing and Coloring Book." It's not an ordinary color book... instead of just coloring inside the lines you are asked to fill a tree with fruit, fill an empty vase with flowers, make two empty faces "look tough," for example.

I ordered the Scribbles book as well as a companion book called Doodles. They were delivered to my office and when Gillian and Audrey saw them, they suggested we photocopy some of the pages and use them as creative breaks from our corporate design filled days. Here are a few I have completed so far...

"Fill these vases with beautiful flowers."
I cut up a collection of illustrator's postcards to create some cool flowers.

"Put a sweater on the bear... And a wool hat on the rabbit."
I found some knitted swatches online and gave the bear a crazy patchwork sweater. He also has a bear flag. HAHA. The rabbit is wearing a wool hat just like Mushmouth!

"Design the flag of the county of rabbits and the flag of the country of mice."
What else would rabbits and mice have on their national flags? Apparently, the mouse is Swiss. HAHA.

I have a paper money collection that I started about 10 years ago. I love well designed currency. Swiss money is my favorite. Swiss graphic design has always been inspiring, so it's no surprise that Swiss notes are so pleasing.

Unrelated to currency, I found some cool things at Repro Depot:

- Mod Jonathan Adler pillow
- Kitschy Texas pillow

BOWL-O-RAMA

I stopped at a thrift shop the other day and came across this beauty...

It's a bowling ball bag. The funny thing is... the bowling ball was still in it. I took out the ball and just bought the bag! haha.

I still need to find a way to take out the plastic tray on the bottom that held the ball in place. I don't know what I am going to do with it... maybe and a shoulder strap and turn it into a cute man bag or something.

SNOW!

I woke up this morning and found it had done this overnight...

I was planning on doing a lot of driving today, but the roads were not clear until early afternoon.So, I decided to stay in. I have lots of stuff to do anyways, like weaving in ends... YIKES!

A photo of my bathroom from Wednesday evening. I love the ledge that goes around the perimeter of the room- it's great to sit things on it for display. In this case, it's two Polaroids- one of a bridge near the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon and another of clouds.

DREW-O-RAMA.COM

Yes, you are are the right place... Knit-o-rama is now Drew-o-rama. I decided to make the change for a few reasons...

- My blog was becoming about more than just knitting, so I felt the name knit-o-rama was not cutting it anymore.

- There will be a short bio about me in an upcoming publication, and I wanted to include my blog address. The super long address I had before wasn't easy enough to remember, so www.drew-o-rama.com was born. (The old link still works, so don't freak out.)

There will still be plenty of knitting, don't worry. But there will also be posts covering general design, crafty-ness, photography, travel, fashion, etc.

New year, new site. Enjoy!

MAKE-IT-YOURSELF ART

The past few weeks I have been cleaning up my apartment, after neglecting it for most of autumn. Part of that has been organizing,  donating unwanted items to charity, rearranging furniture and making some art for my walls...

Wadda ya think? I think it's pretty cool. It's just a pre-stretched canvas and some tempera paint. OK, so I ripped off a Franz Kline painting. Who's gonna know? I think it looks pretty cool.
