On Thursday night I started the first sleeve of the Cropped Cardigan. I just finished the second sleeve tonight and immediately put everything on the blocking board...
This pattern is horrible, to be honest. I had to make so many adjustments, it's not even funny. Thankfully, the final garment is going to be nice. I know my friend and coworker Audrey, the recipient, is really going to like it. Model photos coming soon...
OK, I know it seems like I travel a lot, but I really don't. Just a coincidence that I am going to LA next weekend and then to London three weeks later.
I am going to spend time with my college friend Celeste on her 30th birthday. I am sure we will be spending time in West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and possibly Silverlake. Where else should I go in LA? Are there any good yarn places?
In one month I am going to London! I haven't been there since August of 2000- it will be nice to be back. Where should I go to shop for yarn? What kind of yarn should I buy that would be less expensive than in the US (the horrible exchange rate doesn't help)? Any help is appreciated...
Getting a bit further on the first Ger-MANIA sock...
Almost a year ago, I knit this hat for a friend and it's too short.
Do any of you have any ideas how I can add some length? I really don't want to rip it out at the top. Is it possible to add length at the bottom?

I'm not one to pick up a piece of fruit and dig in. I just never have been . So I eat fruit another way.... smoothies.
I prefer the smoothie be thicker, more like a milk shake. Here is how I make mine...
- Wash raspberries and wash/cut strawberries and let dry. Place on a cookie sheet and put in freezer until frozen. Put frozen fruit in resealable freezer bags.
- Place approx. 1/2 cup of each raspberries and strawberries in blender. Add approx. 1 cup orange juice, 1 individual container of yogurt and 1 tablespoon honey. Blend until smooth. Don't blend too much or the drink will get too runny.

I recently bought two new books...
The first book is ReadyMade's How to Make (Almost) Everything. For those of you that know ReadyMade, many of the projects will look familiar. But don't let that stop you from buying this book. Part of what I like so much about this book is the editorial content and the graphic design... both are just as fun as the projects themselves.
The second book is D.I.Y. Design it Yourself. I was a bit hesitant about this book, because it's basically saying, "Hey, who needs a graphic designer when you can do it yourself." However, it has much more of a hip craftster vibe, so I don't think that I will be out of a job anytime soon.
Check both of them out...

Do you remember when I was choosing costume fabrics for the group that I teach? The costumes arrived about 6 weeks ago and the kids have starting wearing them. Here is a photo of a few of the kids from a football game a couple of weeks ago...
The colors are a bit loud up close. From a distance, however, they are really great when they are the football field.
I will try to get some better photos for you so you can see them more clearly. But, for now, you get the idea with the photo above.
Found these two images in two of the many stock photography pamphlets I get at work...
I have been noticing knitwear much more lately. The construction of the garment, the stitch pattern used... even the gauge. These two caught my eye because the gauge is large for machine knit sweaters which means they are something I could possibly use as inspiration for my own versions.
The sweater on the left uses an all over moss or cross stitch which I think looks great with the ribbed cuffs and turtleneck. The sweater on the right is your basic aran, except that the gauge is a bit loose and it's a raglan... my fave! And, the best part is, I think I have the yarn in my stash to make both.
