TODAY'S SECRET WORD...

I am currently watching Pee Wee's Playhouse on Cartoon Network, so I need to go so I don't miss much more. I just wanted to quickly share a book I recently picked up at a thrift shop.

It's a great drawing book that shows you how to draw cute animals following a series of steps in which you keep adding simple shapes.

Saturday night at the local coffee house.

MY 15 MINUTES

About 4 years ago my old boss built a wacky home/office in rural Kentucky. The space was recently featured in Interior Design magazine...

And, what do ya know... I'm in some of the photos! That's me walking by the huge Tarzan image which is digitally printed on to wallpaper.

It's a pretty cool space... the biggest draw being the hundreds of objects and fixtures that my boss dug out of buildings slated to be demolished that are now sitting inside the house (some of which I helped to rip out).

TAKING LONGER THAN I THOUGHT

The back of the Bert and Ernie Raglan Sweater took longer than I thought it would.

Hopefully, the arrival of Battlestar Galactica season 2.0 on DVD, and TIVOed episodes of Knitty Gritty, Design Inc., and Dwell, will help to make the remaining parts of the sweater go faster.

KNIT GRAFFITI 2, ELECTRIC BOOGALOO

So.... just like the other day, I was walking through my neighborhood and came across some more knitted graffiti. And also just like the other day, I just happened to have my camera in my Prada manpurse.

The third "instillation" is a bit more fitted to the gaslight. And it's much longer, which I think makes a bit more of a statement.

I have walked by the other two several times and it looks as though the neighborhood residents are trying to maintain them by fixing them if some of the cable ties that are used to seam them come undone. That's pretty cool.

DEUTSCHE SOCKEN

Gillian and I went to a local yarn shop the other day because they were having a moving sale. She spotted this yarn that makes cool striped German socks.

Her husband is German, so she bought the two skeins and asked me to make the socks so she she could give them as a Christmas gift.

1978

I went to my parents for the 4th of July weekend and came across these photos that my babysitter took in 1978.

GRAFFITI

I was walking around by neighborhood today and came across an interesting site...

It appears as though someone tagged the neighborhood with knitted graffiti.

I really like the gals and guys at Knitta, Please! so I am sure whoever it was, was inspired by them, too.

Hopefully, there will be more things tagged in the near future. I really hope that people stop to look at what I would consider small works of public art. I will be on the look out and let all of you know when more knitted graffiti appears...

GETTING BETTER

Some are a bit wonky, but you really can't see that when they are on your wrist. I am also using a smaller snap, which helps the visual balance. At least they are getting better.
