This past weekend, Dan and I drove 2 hours north to my parent's to spend the July 4th weekend. We did absolutely nothing, except sit around and talk, eat and watch my nephews ride around on a battery operated mini 4 wheeler that my dad bought them. Oh, and I knitted. A LOT.
My weekend o'knitting began in the car ride...

mmmmm, cable-y goodness.
I am almost finished with the back of Moll. I am very proud of this sweater, as it's my first cabled piece. Actually, the thing I am most proud of is not the cables, but the armhole edge that I created myself. The pattern called for some strange knit 2 together craziness that made no sense to me. So, I decided to use the I-cord edge that Melissa used on some scarves she knitted around Christmas. It looks really great. I also love using the Rowan Cork. It's very soft and the color is very mod.
When I got to my parents, I put away Moll and started on Rapsy, version 3.0. I decided to frog the last attempt, and knit a smaller size. Thank you for all of your input, by the way.

I don't know why I used that ugly background
Thanks to all the sitting around and doing nothing, I was able to knit about 40 cm (16")! That's almost to the armholes. About 20 cm (8") a day which is fast for me using size US6 (4mm) needles.* I can't wait for Raspy to be finished. I think I am really going to like this sweater. It's how I like my sweaters to fit- slightly smaller and tighter than most men's sweaters.
*For those of you who aren't American, in US textbooks, the metric measurement is given first and the English equivalent is given second in parentheses. I guess the text books are trying to say, "you should really use the metric system, but here is the English measurement just in case." I am the biggest advocate for the US switching to the metric system. Just bite the bullet and do it already.
