CAN I JUST KNIT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE?

Ok, so I started another project. This time it's Alison's cool knitted t-shirt from MagKnits. I talked my sister into letting me make one for her using pink yarn. She's pretty much an all black clothes person, so the pink is pretty extreme for her.

For some reason, I tore through the back and one sleeve. I'm knitting the smallest size, so maybe that's why it's going so fast. It took me only one and a half weeks to knit what you see above, which is FAST for me. The pattern is pretty easy- the only thing that was new to me was the hems. It took me a while to figure out and they are a bit wonky, but they look ok, so I am going to leave them.

Remember my 1x1 Ribbed Raglan? Well, this is how it looks now....

I had to be honest with myself... it wasn't really working. I originally meant to make it for myself, but it was way too small. Plus, the knitting in the round thing wasn't working for me. Part of taking the next step as a knitter is knowing when to throw in the towel, and it was time.

I don't know what I am going to make with the yarn, now. It's a wonderful wool acrylic mix from Argentina. Hmmmm... stay tuned.

IT'S SCARF-TASTIC!

Three completed scarves modeled by the ever so accommodating Dan:

Scarf one: I used the brown llama yarn brought back from Argentina knitted on size US10 needles. Knit in 2 x 2 rib this super long scarf is for my friend Celeste. She's super hip like that so I saw her wearing a thinner scarf that hung really low and trailed behind her when she runs from place to place like all the cool people do in LA.

Scarf two: This was knitted using Lion Brand Chunky on size US13 needles. I found the cable pattern in the Vogue Knitting super book and used an I-cord-like edge stitch. I still need to add some cool pon-poms on the end to make it hipster craftsy.

Scarf three: Ok, I lied, this one isn't finished. The circular needle is hanging along Dan's back in the photo. This specimen is knit using another llama yarn that is wonderfully variegated in browns and creams. Also, it's the first garter stitch item I have knitted for probably two years.

APRIL: THE MONTH O' KNITTING

Yesterday, the high school winter guard that I teach had their last performance. They ended up 2nd in the state, jumping up 2 places from where they were ranked going in. I am so very proud of them for working their butts off the last two weeks to get ready for their state competition.

Now that the season is over, I get my weeknights back. Which means plenty of knitting! Lately, I have been wanting to start a lot of projects, but I know I need to finish the ones I currently have. To cure my new-project-itis, I decided to knit some smaller items to keep things fresh. I started two scarves...

The brown scarf is 2x2 ribbing using one of the two llama yarns I brought back from Argentina. This one is going to my friend, Celeste, who I will see in May when Dan and I go to California. It's not very wide or heavy- she lives in LA, so does she really need a scarf to keep warm or just to look cool? The white chunky number is for Dan's friend Rebecca and is knit using Fisherman's Wool. I plan on putting large pon-poms on the ends of this one- very artsy craftsy hip. I will be starting another scarf using the other llama yarn, this one for Rebecca's husband, Josh. Do any of you have any cool scarf pattern ideas?

I bought some Sugar and Cream the other day which was on sale for $.99 a skein! I couldn't resist. Two amazing shades of pink. I think it will become another ChicKami. This one will be stripped like the last, but I will plan the pattern a bit more. Also, on Ebay, I bid on some Rowan Denim to make Raspy from Denim People. I lost the auction, but found another seller.
