Hey, look! It's a new project...

This is the beginning of Moll from the Rowan Cork Collection book. I'm knitting if for my friend Gillian. It's my first cabled piece and I'm excited about it. So far it's going pretty well. Although, Friday night I noticed a mistake a few rows back and I have not touched it since. That's frustrating because this is the second time I started.

By the way, have any of you ever noticed how horribly knitted this garment is in the Rowan pattern book? There are gaping holes all over. It's so surprising that they would even allow mistakes like that to make it into their publication.
Anyway, I also completed this cool little dishcloth.

It was made using Rowan Denim. Once I finished it I used a bleach pen to "write". This is actually a test swatch for a later project that I am thinking of knitting. I am really pleased with the results.
rowan denim is such a nice cotton yarn... and this dishcloth is beautiful.

Love-love-love the dishcloth! Great concept, exceptional graphics.
The not-really-scully sweater is cool, too. Fits you well anyway.

Must know more about this bleach pen technique! Interest is thoroughly peaked. Totally rad dishcloth. Makes me want to do your dishes!

Hey there...just stumbled upon your blog while clicking through the "men who knit" ring. I love this dish cloth idea! Just wonderful! I look forward to visiting often!

Moll... Flanders, perhaps?? I just finished the "Stevie" sweater from the same Rowan Cork book. (Finally! My man-along is done!) Another oddly random name.
As for mistakes, depending on what it is and how brave you're feeling, I had good luck dropping (yes! on purpose!) the stitch that's in line with the error. Let it unravel down to that point, then use a crochet hook to fix and re-knit the dropped stitches all the way back up to the top. Make sense? If your error is a knit/purl type of goof within the ribbing, this might work for you. It's worth a shot before you commit to ripping, anyway.
Good luck to you! Looks great so far!

Ooooh, that bleach pen dishcloth is brilliant. What a super-fab idea, I can't wait to try something like that myself.

I have just been introduced to your blog by a friend and I just have to say that you are awesome! It's so fab to see a young bloke knitting and crafting with such enthusiasm and I shall be checking in regularly for inspiration. I'm a Brit in Australia who owns and yarn store, so I get especially excited when I see a remarkable fella like you!
Keep up the good work!

Great dishcloth! Was really impressed with the "knitting" until you said "bleach pen". That could become a dangerous item! Can't wait to try it out myself.

wow, striking dishcloth. the design is unexpected considering the object; i really like its geometric graffiti style. can't wait to see the project you have planned.
your bleach pen method has my little brain churning. thanks for sharing it.

Lovin' the dishcloth magic. Genius! I was fooled -- thought it was intarsia, and was mighty impressed. But now that I know it's a bleach pen, I'm still mighty impressed!

The dishcloth is genius. I also thought you were kicking butt and taking names with intarsia, but a bleach pen...why didn't I think of that?

Very cool idea! Looks like you are getting the hang of cables. :)

The dishcloth looks great. I knitted Moll and then got frustrated when I got to the collar. It looks horrible in the book! There's no flow between the ribbing in the top and in the collar. So I abandoned the ribbing, washed the top with something that bled all over it, and now have no clue what to do with the thing.

super mod dishcloth! A question - have you washed it or wet it yet, and do the colors hold?

I really like that dishcloth. I thought at first you had done an awesome job at intarsia, but a bleach pen is so much easier.
Good luck on the shell, I know your friend will like it (and, oh how I wish a man would knit for me) she is a very lucky girl indeed.

Ohh, I am so in love with your dishcloth. I would love to try one although with my luck most of the bleach would end up on my clothes... I have always thought that dishclothes were the summum of uncool but I am taking that back right now. A.x

That is really cool. I rmember doing this on t-shirts with bleach and Q-tips when I was a kid.
