HASTA LA VISTA, BABY

Hey, kids. I am leaving tonight to visit my brother in Buenos Aires, Argentina! I am really excited.

Anyway, I will not be blogging until at least the end of next week, so you will all have to be patient until I return. I will be knitting up a storm on the 11 hour (yikes!) flight using circular (yikes!) needles that my mom let me borrow.

Thanks for all the airport security tips. Like I said above, I will be using circs, but bought some plastic (yikes!) needles just in case.

MEIN HUT, ES HAT KEINE ECKEN

I am really beginning to love all these small projects that require little to no finishing. My latest completed project is this crocheted hat using a pattern from the most recent Interweave Knits Crochet magazine.

Some left over Kool Wool, a size Q hook and about 1.5 hours later and I had this nifty little hat. It's a great way to use left over yarn. I am going to start another one tonight while I sit and watch Dan play the new Ratchet and Clank. I think these hats would make great Christmas presents.

I have a question for all of you... I am leaving to go visit my brother in Buenos Aires next Wednesday and would like to take the Skull Sweater on the plane. Have any of you had any trouble taking straight, metal US11 knitting needles through security? I don't know if I will be scrutinized because I am a male knitter which might send up a red flag in their minds. Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated.

I STARTED OVER

I started the skull vest again. Although, this time it's a sweater and instead of using DK weight yarn and #8 needles, I'm using chunky yarn and #11 needles.

As you can see, it's going quickly. I am using Lion Brand Wool Ease Chunky. I'm not a yarn snob and so I don't mind using a wool/acrylic blend. It does look a bit acrylic-y, but I am making it for a man who my friends say remind them of a lumber jack, so I don't think he will mind. It's also machine washable, which is good for Mr. Lumber Jack, who often gets food on his shirt while eating his Hungry Man TV dinners. (OK, he doesn't eat TV dinners.)

While I was at the Hobby Lobby (which, by the way, is closed on Sunday for "family and worship" *) I came across four skeins of Landscapes.

It's a 100% wool chunky weight by Lion Brand. I was very surprised to see something like this at a hobby shop. I couldn't resist, so I bought all four skeins. The ball band says they are great for felting. Well, maybe I will do that on Sunday, after I make time for family and worship.

*I guess that's part of living in Jesusland!

ANOTHER QUICK ONE

Short and easy. Started Sunday. Used Kureyon. Felted. Finished tonight.

Ugly yet hip.
