MAN-ALONG UPDATE ONE

Well, well, well. It looks like little 'ol me has a bit of a knit-along underway. I'm a big boy now!

Thanks to everybody who has signed up so far. And to anybody out there wanting to join, you can do so at anytime, you just have to follow the rules.

It is great to see knitters from all over the world join. So far we have the US, Canada and France all represented. If you know of any male knitters out there, send them my way. It would be nice to have some men knitting-along, too.

Also, it has been interesting to see what everybody is choosing to knit. We have some participants using the same pattern, such as Debbie, Kate and Niki knitting the Manly Sweater from "Stitch n' Bitch." Jena and Lisa are both knitting the Stevie Sweater from the Rowan Cork Collection. Sarah is going to knit the Skully sweater... I was going to knit that for Dan, but like I told Sarah, he's 6'4" and knitting a sweater for him would take FOREVAH. So I was excited to see DomiKNITrix's skull vest.

Anyway, good luck to everyone. I plan on posting updates, to be honest, when I feel like it, so you will have to keep checking back to the super cool, ultra wunderbar, eurotrash-esque Knit-o-Rama.

Thanks for the update everybody. I plan on posting another update soon as I have started the intarsia skull and want to show everyone. Plus, others have made progress on their entries.

Wanted to pass along an update on my Echo Lake Cardi. Finally got my yarn (bought it from WEBS giant end of summer sale, so it took a while to get to me) and started swatching. I realized VERY quickly I need to double the yarn and finally had to go from US7s to US5s to get the gauge described on 2x2 rib! I tried the fabulous tubular cast on to wonderful success and have knit past the cables on the back (that is to say I have knit about 4in up the back!) I considered doing it in the round, but decided fifty billion ribs in the round was an equation for disaster and as I am a professional seamstress, well seaming isn;t really a problem! How is everyone else doing?

Hi Drew,
Love your blog. I decided at lunch time today to do a jumper for the man in my life (been together 6months today!).. Pattern is Leo from Knitty, but done with a bit of a twist- adding scattered cable twists to the vertical ribs- and probably in Rowan felted tweed. http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTleo.html Only catch is that I want to do it as a gift, so I am trying to figure out how I can post on my blog without him realising what it is...

Hi Drew
I love this idea and I just signed up. I'm knitting the Manly Sweater and my man is 6'8" XXL so I've got a giant sweater on my hands. It will be nice to be speeding along with 3 others knitting the same sweater.

Hi, Drew! I was trying to email to join the knit-along but my computer wont oblige. The sweater that I am making is the Basketweave Jacket from Men in Sweaters by Tara Jon Manning. Love the idea and my Hubby is excited for the sweater.

I'm knitting Noro's Fiztgerald.. but it's um.. for ME! does that count? lol I'm having a Fitzgerald a-long as well!

Hi Drew, here's the latest picture of my Man-Along progress: http://stoneview.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/jason_sweater_progress.jpg
Jason is a big fella and this sweater is knit in the round so it's going to grow very slowly at first. I'll get there eventually! I see Donna is knitting from the same book I am if not the same pattern.

Hi Drew!
Just wanted to tell you I had been reading your blog and I enjoyed a lot.
Hope to hearing from you soon! (I´m preparing myself to join that man along, but my special someone is an XL... so I´m a little scared yet) :)

See, Drew, the deal is, I'd be in on the Man-Along but I already have three or four or maybe five sweaters for various men (well, mostly for myself) in progress but they were all started before the M.A. began... which doesn't really follow the rules. So do I have to start another totally new sweater? I mean... goes, yay, stash enhancement, here I come!
